Barbara Ann Deaville Hare of Sulphur died peacefully Saturday morning with her children at her side. She was 80 years old.
Born Nov. 22, 1943 in Vinton, La., Barbara was known for her sense of humor, warm heart and love of all things friends and family. She enjoyed playing Pokeno, having friends over to play cards and spending time with family. Throughout her life, she was known for her roasts, fruit salad and love of dancing, Christmas, jewelry and more jewelry. Seriously, she loved to look good!
She is survived by her sons, Steve Hare of Sulphur and Don Smith of San Antonio, Texas; her daughter, Tammy Turner of Lake Charles; step-daughter, Tammy Corbello; stepsons, Karl Smith, Tom Smith and Craig Hare; numerous grandchildren; beloved friends, and her dog, Molly. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hare, and her daughter, Melanie Casteel.
A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 23, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson Celebrant, Jody Tyler. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
