Ted Joseph Monlezun

Ted Joseph Monlezun, 73, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:12 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in a local hospital.
Born on June 20, 1950, in Lake Charles, he remained a lifelong resident of the area. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School, class of 1970, and furthered his education at Sowela Technical Institute, specializing in welding. With a career spanning over 40 years, Mr. Monlezun dedicated himself to the craft of welding and retired from Alcoa. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for the outdoors. Mr. Monlezun found solace in hunting, fishing, and cherished moments spent at his river camp.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, awesome dad, and fabulous friend who touched the lives of many with his warmth, humor, and generosity. He possessed an innate ability to connect with others, never meeting a stranger and always offering a helping hand to those in need. His smile and jokes brought joy to those around him.
He was a proud member of the NRA, reflecting his passion for the outdoors.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Esther Evans Monlezun; daughter, Jean Monlezun; sisters, Suzie Kebodeaux (Jesse), and Peggy Bridgman (Rod); several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Irene Monlezun.
A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Samuel Bond will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the church at 12 p.m. and continue until the start of the service.
