Lola Mae Billedeaux Granger Lavergne, 96, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 8, 2024 in a local healthcare facility surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. LaVergne was born Sept. 8, 1927 in Patterson, La. to John Senette Mire and Lola May Aucoin Mire. She was a 1955 graduate of Louisiana School of Beauty in Lake Chrles and worked as a beautician until she was 86 years old, making sure her “little old ladies” remained beautiful. Lola enjoyed life and traveling in her motor home with her late husband, Martin. They were charter members of the Jean Lafitte RV Club. A lady of faith and family, she was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress and found joy in sewing and crocheting for family and friends. Lola was a social butterfly. A little lady; feisty, full of sass, with a vibrant personality that was sure to light up any room she entered. Her sense of humor and infectious laugh will be forever remembered by countless many. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Roger Billedeaux of Lake Charles and Gary Billedeaux (Kala) of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Randy Billedeaux (Melanie), Sherry Duhon (Steve), Barry Billedeaux, Penny Zaunbrecher (Doug), Kristi LeDoux (Raymond), and Keri Vick (Mitch); step-daughter, Mary Coleman (Russell) of Foley, Ala.; brother, Joe Mire (Sandy) of Husser, La.; nephew, John Mire (Elizabeth) of Husser, La.; sister, Laura Ackman; 17 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lola Mire; her husbands, Bert Billedeaux, Paul Granger and Martin LaVergne; her son, Reggie Billedeaux and wife, Loretta; and her granddaughter, Kimberly Belanger Rhorer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2024 in St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Prabhakar Kowtiki will serve as Celebrant. Interment services will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Sunday will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary service beginning at 6 p.m. Visitation Monday will be from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
