Sedrick Owen Gregory Jr.

Sedrick O. Gregory, Jr., 89, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, at his home in Carlyss, La. He was born in Melville, La. on Jan. 20, 1935, and lived his early years traveling to various places where his father worked. The family settled in Sulphur, La. when he was young and he would go on to graduate from Sulphur High School in 1953.
He retired from Citgo Refinery in 1997 after 41 years of service. After a year of staying at home he got bored, bought an RV, contracted himself out and went to work on the road as a welding inspector. His second retirement was at the age of 72.
In his early years, Sedrick served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. He loved traveling and most of his conversations were about what roads were traveled and how to get from point A to B. His love for sports and travel led him to many golf courses near and far where he played on the amateur golf circuit for 55 year olds and older. He umpired many USSSA baseball games at Frasch Park and was also LHSAA high school basketball official for surrounding high schools for over 25 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Judith (Judy) Trosclair Gregory; four daughters, Toni LeDoux Vincent (Denton), Jill Lockhart, Kris Conner (Dean), D’Ann Forrest (Carl) and one son, Rock Gregory all of Sulphur, La.; 12 grandchildren, Adee Prine (Elliott), Cade LeDoux (Traci), Morgan LeDoux Guzzino (Nick), Jude LeDoux (Hannah), Garrett Lockhart, Sister Theophana Grace (Keli Jo) Conner of the Sister Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Greg Conner (Elizabeth), Sean Conner (Deven), Joseph Conner (Ally), Emily Conner Lafleur (Derek), Kenzie Forrest LeBoeuf (Jared) and Cody Forrest (Paige); 20 great-grandchildren and three on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Darrell E. Gregory (Ethel) of Lafayette, and sister-in-law, Melanie “Jane” Trosclair Carlock, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
Sedrick was preceded in death by his parents, Sedrick O. Gregory Sr. and Eve Effie Delaune Gregory, and a great granddaughter, Gia Grace LeDoux.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Legion of Mary rosary at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Thursday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for a processional to St. Theresa’s Church. Father Sibi Kunninu M.S. will officiate services. His final resting place will be at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.
