Connie Marie Broussard of Sulphur, La., affectionately known to her siblings as “Conehead”, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the age of 67. She was born July 28, 1956 to Joe and Martha Evelyn Broussard.
Connie graduated Valedictorian in 1974 from Sulphur High School and later went on to earn her Criminal Justice degree from McNeese State University.
Connie was always prepared for anything! She was strong willed and fiercely independent. She was a Lady McGiver and hated leaky faucets. When her mother passed away, Connie took on the role of matriarch with her siblings. She always was there to help them move, first home fixer uppers, getting married, and getting divorced.
While working at a local refinery as an operator, she became interested in and acquired rental properties. Upon leaving the refinery, she went full time into real estate and purchased a 30 unit apartment complex on W. McNeese St. as well as numerous other rental properties in Lake Charles.
Left to cherish Connie’s memory are her husband, Garrell Gambell; sisters, Marilyn (George) Ford and Monica Broussard; brother, Mark Broussard; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Connie had no children of her own but was a doting aunt to all her nieces and nephews.
Connie was predeceased by her parents Joe and Martha Evelyn Broussard; sister, Mary Evelyn Broussard; and brother, Cpt. Alvin Lynn Broussard.
The family would like to give special thanks to Harbor Hospice in the care that they gave Connie.
