Glenn Anthony Buras Sr. passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, at the age of 73. He was born on Nov. 6, 1950 in New Orleans, La. and was a resident of Lake Charles, La. for 49 years before moving to Metairie, La. in August 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henrietta (Edgecombe) Buras and Milton Joseph Buras; siblings, Ronald J. Buras Sr., Carolyn (Buras) Robinson, and Milton Andrew Buras, and his beloved furbabies, Jade, Buddy and Suzy Q.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer Buras Noveh (Wayne), Kristy Buras (Dayriana Rodriguez), Jeffrey Buras, Glenn Buras Jr. (Lauren Esposito); grandchildren, Sabine Noveh, Luke Noveh, and Caden Grilletta, and his sister, Bonnie (Buras) Critchlow.

He graduated from L.E. Rabouin Memorial School, and worked in sales at Lee Martins Men’s Shop and Sears & Roebuck and Co., and as a paraprofessional with Calcasieu Parish School Board.

He will be remembered for always getting a great deal on whatever he purchased, talking with anyone he met (Mayor of Gulfgate), and feeding and caring for strays and rescues in the neighborhood.

He loved helping his family, friends, and neighbors whenever possible, and serving in his community as an election worker and volunteer. He wants everyone to know that he tried.

The family is grateful for the love and care the Lake Charles family provided, especially Peggy, Walter, and Trey Denton, Ganey and Heather Arsement, Julie Bergeron and Peter Haar. The family would like to extend special thanks to their brother, Jeffrey Buras, and to Laura Stoker, who selflessly cared for Dad the last few months of his life.

A funeral/memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Leitz Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service to begin at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette, La.
