Christopher Allen Percle, age 55, passed away surrounded by family Tuesday afternoon, April 12, 2022, in his home. Chris was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. He was welcomed into heaven by his beloved late sister, Karen Percle.
He was born in Lake Charles, La., on Aug. 3, 1966, to his surviving parents, Howard and Nancy Percle. He attended St. Louis High School and was a part of the defensive line on the football team there. Geaux Saints! He was a delivery driver for Borden’s Milk before starting his 28-year career at Firestone Polymers, from which he eventually retired. During his career there, he developed some of the closest friendships with men he would eventually come to consider family.
“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”
Chris was a man of few words, but when he spoke you listened intently. Witty comebacks were his specialty, and he always enjoyed a good laugh whenever the opportunity presented itself. Surrounded by 7 siblings growing up, he always put family before himself. He was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. Anytime there was an opportunity to be cheering his girls on from the sidelines, he was there. Chris never wanted to be in the spotlight, and spent his time deeply committed to working on anything that needed fixing (or didn’t). He loved to tinker with things and would often come up with elaborate plans that he would fill his time working to complete. As a collector of many tools, he would guard them fiercely, from mainly his daughters. He was always there for anyone who he saw needed help and would learn any skill necessary to complete a task. Being outside, tending the yard, planting trees, bushhogging, and fixing fence would eventually become his solace. Chris loved his family deeply and even established a “cookies and milk” routine with his youngest daughter as a way to handle any difficult conversations. As such a significant and loved man to so many, he will be immensely missed.
Chris is survived by his wife of 27 years, Medina Percle; six siblings, Howard Percle Jr. and wife Melanie of Tatum, Texas, Julie Percle Fontenot of Iowa, Joey Percle and wife Raevin of New Iberia, Susie “SueSue” Percle of Jennings, Jane Percle Arabie and husband Terry of Ragley, Greg Percle, and wife Susan of Lake Charles; four children, Cammy Percle Gilley and husband Cody of Sulphur, Anthony Basco and partner Timothy Dykes of Baton Rouge, Sarah Basco, and fiancée Brent Bellon of Lacassine, Jessica Percle of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren, Luke, Logan, Layton, Miri, Annalee, Harlyn, Lucy; along with a hosts of nieces and nephews.
