In what has to be one of the strangest endings to a sporting event ever, McNeese State’s visit to the Texas-Arlington Waterchase Invitational was cut short when the tournament was called on account of bees.

Yes, bees.

A tree branch near the 18th green at the Waterchase Golf Course in Fort Worth fell to the ground, crushing a large beehive in the process. Several players were stung, forcing tournament officials to end the event with the scores from Monday’s 36 holes becoming the final.

The Cowboys finished 18th in the 19-team event, posting a team score of 55-over through two rounds. Wichita State won at 6-under.
