UPDATE: Wet weekend not over yet

Another round of showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon into this evening followed by a third round on Sunday.
National Weather Service Lake Charles meteorologist Donald Jones said rainfall totals of 1-4 inches are expected through Sunday afternoon.
That’s in addition to Friday night’s rainfall numbers.
“The heavy rainfall will have the potential to lead to street flooding in some locations,” Jones said.
In addition to the heavy rain threat, there is a marginal risk for severe weather both today and Sunday.
”Quarter-size or larger hail and 60-plus mph winds are the primary threats although one or two tornadoes cannot be ruled out,” Jones said.
The rainfall is expected to an end late Sunday afternoon with the passage of a cold front with cooler and drier air expected Monday into Tuesday, he said.
