$20,000 worth of drugs recovered during search

The Combined Anti-Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office ACT-T Team, recovered $20,000 in drugs during a search warrant executed Jan. 9 in the 8500 block of Gulf Highway.

During a search of the residence, detectives located and seized 1.28 pounds of marijuana, 7.5 ounces of THC oil, 2.6 grams of methamphetamine, 3.28 grams of crack cocaine, 5.19 grams of powder cocaine, 1.96 pounds of adderall pills, 1 pound of oxycodone pills (suspected pressed fentanyl pills), 3.91 grams of alprazolam tabs, 24 dosage units of tramadol pills, 37 dosage units of hydrocodone pills, 3 dosage units of ecstasy tabs, 1 Kel Tec 9mm rifle, 1 Zastada Serbia AK47 7.62 caliber, 1 Glock 48 9mm pistol and 1 HK USP .40 caliber pistol.

Kiynen Chieves, 20, and Kenneth Bryant, 19, were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center for Possession of CDS I w/Intent to distribute (2 counts), Possession of CDS II w/Intent to distribute (6 counts), Possession of CDS IV w/Intent to distribute (2 counts), Possession of a firearm by persons convicted of certain felonies and Illegal carrying of a weapon in presence of a CDS.

At the time of this investigation, detectives learned Chieves is out on parole for a prior criminal case and Bryant has two active arrest warrants out of Harris County for prior drug and gun charges. At the time of this release, no bonds have been set. Cheives is being held on a parole hold and Bryant is being held for an out-of-state detainer.

This investigation is on-going and more arrests are possible.
