The National clubhouse restaurant nearing completion

The National Golf Club of Louisiana clubhouse restaurant in Westlake will open in about six weeks.

Architect Barry King gave a report on the new clubhouse at The National, which will have a restaurant that pays homage to Westlake school sports teams and coaches.

“We’re at a point right now, we’ve got to wrap everything up,” King said. “We’ll be getting a fire marshal and Board of Health walk-through in the next couple of weeks. So, once that’s completed, I’m sure the contractor is going to hand over the keys halfway through or at the end of October.”

National Golf Club Manager Gerry Pocket said after the keys are handed over, some time will be needed for training.

“We have a good chef and I look forward to opening in a month, month and a half,” Pocket said. “This is a public restaurant. We want everybody in the community to come out there often and enjoy Louisiana cuisine.”
