Heat advisory in effect with heat index values up to 112 degrees possible
A heat advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. today in Southwest Louisiana.
Afternoon highs are expected in the mid 90s to near 100 — with maximum heat index values 108 to 112 degrees, reported the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.
There is also a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms with the main threat being damaging winds this afternoon and evening.
Hazardous heat will continue across the area Monday through the rest of the week, NWS reported.
