Two pronounced dead after vehicle hits tree

<p class="p1">A Westlake woman and her passenger were killed Tuesday evening after their car crashed into a tree, authorities said.</p><p class="p1">Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said deputies were dispatched at about 7 p.m. to E. Burton Street and Isabella Drive in Sulphur in reference to a one-vehicle crash.</p><p class="p1">She said evidence at the scene indicates the car was travelling eastbound on E. Burton Street when it left the roadway on the south side of the road and travelled about 300 feet before hitting a tree.</p><p class="p1">The driver, Natasha Pego, 35, of Westlake, and her passenger, William Cranford, 41, of Sulphur, were pronounced dead at the scene.</p><p class="p1">The investigation is continuing and in accordance with Louisiana state law, standard toxicology testing will be performed on the driver, Myers said.</p><p class="p1">Sgt.
