Fatal pedestrian crash leads to DWI arrest

Louisiana State Police have arrested a Texas man for first-offense DWI after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night that killed a pedestrian.

Sgt. Ross Brennan said at around 9 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating the on Interstate 10, just east of Fabacher Road. The crash claimed the life of 31-year-old Daniel Courville of Lake Charles.

Brennan said Courville was attempting to cross I-10 West after his vehicle had entered the median. At the same time, 45-year-old Juan Camacho of Texas was traveling west on I-10 in a 2004 GMC Sierra. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC struck Courville as he crossed the roadway.
