Special to American Press

Artists Civic Theatre and Studio will hold auditions for Tony Kushner’s Tony-nominated “Caroline, Or Change” at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 25, and 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 26, at its 1 Reid St. theater, on the corner of Reid and South Railroad Avenue.

The musical, set in 1963 Lake Charles, tells a provocative story of political change, social change and pocket change. Featuring a virtuosic score by Jeanine Tesori (“Shrek The Musical,” “Thoroughly Modern Millie”), it blends blues, gospel and traditional Jewish melodies, creating a breathtaking medium for Kushner’s provocative and personal story.

Production dates are Sept. 16-17; Sept. 23-24, Sept. 29 and Oct. 1. Joy Pace will direct the production, with music direction by Tony James.

Those who plan to audition should prepare at least 16 bars of a song audition not from this show, and in the style of Motown, mid- to uptempo, and dress comfortably. There may be some cold singing of selected scenes from the script. Arrive 30 minutes early to register.

10 Females (8 African American/Black Actors ages 16-50, and 2 Caucasian/White 1 middle age and 1 older)
