Brothers granted trip to Disney World

A Moss Bluff family will leave Saturday on a special trip courtesy of the state police Grant-A-Wish program, the Wishing Well Foundation, and the Give Kids the World organization.  

Stepbrothers Zander Gray, 15, and Derek Meaux, 9, have been granted their wish of visiting Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., with all expenses paid. Gray, who has Down syndrome, and Meaux, who has septo-optic dysplasia, cerebral palsy and epilepsy, officially received the news at an event Wednesday night at Chuck E. Cheese’s. 

“I don’t think they quite understand it. But they will really understand when we get there,” said dad Michael Gray. “It will really hit them then.”

His family, he said, should expect to come back home tired. “We are going to do Disney, Universal and Sea World. We are going to try and get the whole experience. If we are going, then these kids need to do as many things as they can,” he said.

“As soon as we are in Orlando, we will hit the ground running,” said mom Lindsey Gray. But she admitted on Wednesday that they weren’t
