For those who love musicals and Christmas, a musical retelling of the classic film “A Christmas Story, The Musical” may be perfect for you.

Big League Productions has selected Lutcher Theater in Orange, Texas, to launch their National Broadway Tour with a musical performance of “A Christmas Story, The Musical.” Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19-20; tickets range from $55-$70.

Based on the 1983 film of the same name, director Matt Lenz and 84 cast members will bring what most have seen on screen put on stage.

The story focuses on young, bespectacled Ralphie Parker and the Red Ryder air rifle he longs to receive for Christmas.

The show includes all if not most of the iconic scenes from the movie, such as the infamous leg lamp and humerus tongue stuck to a lamp post, according to Lutcher marketing manager Marla Gilmore.

She said attendees can expect “high-quality” dances and songs from the cast, who poured hours of work into making this retelling of a beloved tale come to life.

Musical numbers are spread throughout the show, which has been faithful to the source material, Gilmore said.

Behind the scenes, the cast, crew and creatives strive for a flawless show, she said. The cast work to the bone on finalizing the stage blocking, cues and choreography; the crew labors on producing and repairing sets and props; and the creatives are hard-pressed on making sure the sound and lighting designs are on point with everything else.

Gilmore said the cast will spend 12 days in Orange preparing for the show and their tour launch.

She said the theater will be collecting pajama and blanket donations during the shows to be distributed to the Salvation Army of Orange.
