District 4-1A play agrees with the Elton Indians, who beat Hamilton Christian 16-0 Thursday night for their second consecutive district win.

The Indians (2-3) have bounced back from a season-opening threegame losing streak in style, staying perfect in district play behind a strong defensive showing.

Hamilton fell to 0-5, 0-2.

The Indians held Hamilton to 227 yards of offense and forced three turnovers.

Elton opened the scoring in the second half, taking over on the Warriors 35 on a 54-yard punt return by Darnell Robinson. Two plays later, Kervondrick Scott hauled in a Dylan Fontenot pass for a 28-yard touchdown. Fontenot ran in the 2-point conversion to put Elton up 8-0.

Elton sealed the win with 4:30 left in the fourth quarter when Bryce Laughlin scooped up a fumble and raced 60 yards for a touchdown to make the score 16-0.

The first half was filled with missed opportunities. Elton’s opening drive reached the Hamilton 9-yard line but ended on a failed fourth-down attempt when Hamilton lineman Brandon Malbrough sacked Fontenot.

Elton’s other two drives ended at the Hamilton 38 and Hamilton 5, with the last ending on an incomplete pass.

Hamilton’s first two drives ended in Elton territory, the first on a fumble at the 49, the second at the 13 when Fontenot broke up a pass attempt.

Hamilton running back Reggie Jackson went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season, gaining 148 yards on 20 carries to push his fivegame total to 1,036.

Robinson led Elton with 83 yards on 13 carries. Scott caught four passes for 79 yards and completed a pass for 16 yards on a fake punt.
