Motorcyclist deceased after two-vehicle crash

News Release

On Thursday, August 30<sup>th</sup>, 2018, at approximately 11:37  P.M. the Lake Charles Police Department Traffic Division responded to a two vehicle crash, involving a motorcycle at the intersection of East McNeese and Hwy. 14. 

Upon arrival, officers learned that the driver of the motorcycle was deceased. 

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office and the driver of the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital. 

The initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling south on Hwy. 14 in the outside lane approaching McNeese St. The driver of the second vehicle, Toyota Tacoma, was traveling north on Hwy. 14 in the inside lane attempting to turn left onto McNeese St. 

The driver of the Tacoma turned left in front of the motorcycle which caused the crash. At the present time, no citations have been issued and the crash is still under investigation.

Toxicology reports are still pending on both drivers. Sergeant Jason Derise is the lead investigator.
