Former McNeese State wide receiver Kent Shelby will try his hand at the NFL as the university confirmed Saturday that he signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent.
The 6-foot-3, 208-pound receiver was quarterback James Tabary’s No. 1 option throughout the 2017 season in which he caught 48 passes for 625 yards and three touchdowns.
He was a staple in the Cowboys’ offense for three seasons and amassed 128 combined career catches for 1,910 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The Rams enter their third season in Los Angeles after a year in which first-year head coach Sean McVay earned the NFL’s Coach of the Year Award after leading the Rams to an NFC West championship with an 11-5 record.
Shelby did not respond to request for comment.
