Mamma Mia! Enjoy a wicked good time at CYT gala

Christian Youth Theater will host its inaugural gala, “A Night at the Museum: Broadway Icons,” on Friday, Feb. 15, at Magnolia House Event Center, 932 Enterprise Blvd.

“This is going to be a premiere event in Lake Charles for theatre,” said Cherie Benoit, CYT managing director. “A lot of fundraising events like this don’t have this many live elements to it. They’re going to get quality theatre entertainment.”

The gala opens with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., featuring live music by Grammy Educator Award nominee Mickey Smith Jr.

Guests can also bid on silent auction items that will benefit programs offered by the theater.

“We host three sessions of classes a year, with three separate shows,” Benoit said. “Funds will go to support the supplies and staff who make our program work.”

Following the catered dinner at 6:45 p.m., CYT’s most seasoned performers and instructors will perform hits from Broadway shows both old and new. Guests will have an up-close experience with the performers as they showcase selections from “Mamma Mia!,” “Wicked,” “White Christmas,” “Annie Get Your Gun” and many more.

Benoit said the performance will highlight the “best of the best” talent within the program.

“Better than anything — the food, the cocktails — people will leave talking about the performance,” she said.

Individual tickets are $75 or $600 for a table of eight. VIP tables are also available for $700 and include a bottle of wine, dinner served to the table and preferred seating.

Cocktail attire is preferred. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit cytlakecharles.org/wintergala.
