A body found floating in Bayou D’Inde north of the Interstate 10 bridge Thursday afternoon is being treated as a homicide, according to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso.
Mancuso said a fisherman discovered the body, which has not been identified, face down in the water. Deputies from the Marine Division confirmed the report, and investigators recovered the body by boat Thursday evening.

“At this time we don’t know the race, whether it’s a male or female,” he said. “(We’ll) see what the scene tells us, if anything.”
Because the body was found in a remote area, Mancuso said the investigation will be challenging.
“It’s not like a normal crime scene; we’ve got to get to it by boat and get all our equipment out there,” he said.
Mancuso said the body will be released to the Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death, including any injuries.
CPSO identified the body as 50-year-old Gregory P. Cass of Sulphur, and foul play is not suspected at this time.
