City Council OKs annexation of 61.3 acres
The Lake Charles City Council amended four previously approved ordinances at the City Council meeting on Wednesday.
The Council unanimously voted to amend three ordinances that were originally adopted on Sept. 7. The first ordinance annexed approximately 48.62 acres of land to expand the corporate limits of Lake Charles. This land is generally described as the west side of the 4800-4900 blocks of Corbina Road.
Ordinance No. 19348 assigned the land the classification of Residential and Ordinance No. 19349 assigned the acreage to District F.
The amendment also increased the acreage to approximately 61.3 acres.
The acreage suggestion increased after including street right of ways and easements to the original residential property.
They also unanimously voted to accept the lowest responsible bid and enter into an agreement for the purchase of an annual contract for hauling and disposal of wastewater solids, for use by the Public Works Department, Wastewater Division, for a 12 month period. There is an option to renew on the same terms for an additional 12 months.
The lowest responsible bid came from VFI Waste Service LLC. at $509 per load.
This ordinance is sponsored by Stuart Weatherford, District E Councilman.
The Council also approved an ordinance accepting the lowest responsible bid and authorizing the city to enter into an agreement for the Nelson Road Extension and bridge utility improvements. Out of four bids, the lowest responsible bid came from MPB Construction LLC. at a rate of $749,398. This bid was accepted unanimously.
This ordinance is sponsored by John Ieyoub, District D Councilman and Council President.
