21-year-old killed when car hits tree, rolls
Joshua Dillion Granger, 21, of Kinder died in the single-vehicle crash on La. 383, about seven miles west of Kinder, according to State Police.
The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m., according to Trooper First Class Derek Senegal.
Investigators said Granger was traveling south on La. 383 when his 2020 Kia Optima crossed the centerline into the opposing lane of travel and traveled off the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle entered a ditch, struck a culvert and became airborne. Once airborne, the vehicle struck a tree which caused it to roll over several times before ejecting the driver.
Granger, who was not restrained, sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash, according to an initial investigation.
A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Granger and will be submitted for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
This is the fifth fatal crash resulting in six deaths investigated by Troop D this year.
