Calcasieu Law Enforcement Training Academy holds graduation

According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso, the Calcasieu Parish Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy completed its 129th Basic Academy by conducting graduation ceremonies today for 30 officers representing 13 agencies in the five-parish area.  Twenty-seven officers completed 519 hours of instruction in all phases of basic law enforcement.  Three officers completed 140 hours of refresher courses. These law enforcement officers passed the Louisiana Peace Officer Standard Testing (POST) exam and are now certified as Basic Peace Officers.

Hunter Keehnen, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, was selected class president of the 129th Basic Academy.

The Highest Scholastic Average honor was awarded to Zachary Robinson, Merryville Police Department.

Firearms awards were presented to:

Landon Turano, first; Lake Charles Police Department

Lance Turano, second; Lake Charles Police Department

Jace Dufresne, third; Sulphur Police Department

Defensive Tactics Honor was presented to Garrett Ellison, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office

Physical Training was presented to Joon-Young Hong, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office
