<p class="indent"><strong>What is the best large schools softball game?</strong>

<p class="indent"><strong>WA</strong>: Patterson at Westlake: The Rams can score in bunches and have an ace pitcher in Myka Lester. But 3A is deep so the Rams only get the No. 13 seed and a formidable first round opponent in Patterson.

<p class="indent"><strong>RA</strong>: Sulphur at Barbe. The District 3-5A rivals will face off a third time this season in the first round of the playoffs today. The previous two games were decided by one run each and the long ball factored heavily in the outcome. Barbe’s Lexie Heisser hit a walk off solo home run in the first game and Sulphur’s Abbi Massey and Chrislyn Ryan homered in the second game.

<p class="indent"><strong>What is the most interesting small school softball playoff bgame?</strong>

<p class="indent"><strong>WA: </strong>Hicks at Bell City. The Bruins made the playoffs every year since 2007. This time they open at home and with the benefit of playing a full slate of meaningful district games.

<p class="indent"><strong>RA</strong>: East Beauregard at Delcambre. The Trojans reached the 1A semifinals, but the a move to Class 2A and a No. 17 seed will make the return trip to Sulphur more challenging. East Beauregard will play Delcambre on the road in the first round today with a potential date with No. 1 Many in the regional round.

<p class="indent"><strong>Who is your player to watch?</strong>

<p class="indent"><strong>WA</strong>: Barbe’s Jennifer Perkins. Barbeis hosting Sulphur, which scores runs by the dozens. The Bus will have to keep up, and McNeese signee Perkins provides power in the middle of the lineup.

<p class="indent"><strong>RA</strong>: Westlake’s Audrey Fisher. The junior third baseman has been stellar in the lead off spot for the Rams this season with 17 hits, 16 runs, 10 RBI and 23 stolen bases in her last nine games. She lead the team in batting average (.464), hits (32), doubles (8), runs (35) and stolen bases (37).
