JDPJ seeks grant to renovate Roanoke Park basketball court

JENNINGS — The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury is seeking money to renovate a basketball court at Roanoke Park.

The panel agreed this week to send a letter of support for a HoopLA grant through the nonprofit group Legislator’s Charity Fund.

Legislators who buy a ticket to a HoopLA fundraiser may submit a basketball court in their area to be entered into a drawing to be renovated. Rep. John E. Guinn submitted Roanoke Park.

Police Jury Secretary-Treasurer Rebecca Gary said repairs can include fencing, painting and lightning and work on goals, posts and the court.

Gary said the Roanoke Park basketball court is good, but that the lines, poles and backboard need to be repaired. The Police Jury repaired the court three to five years ago, she said.
