Reward offered for info in two cattle shootings

WELSH — A reward to find the suspect(s) involved in two separate cattle shootings near Welsh earlier this month has been increased.

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Livestock Brand Commission announced Tuesday the reward has been increased to $3,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for shooting five cows in a pasture off of Faul Road and Lone Pine Road, just north of Welsh.

The Jeff Davis Parish Cattlemen’s Association donated an additional $800 to increase the reward.

Detective and Livestock Brand commission agents have been working together to investigate the incident since the first shooting was reported on Jan. 14.

A second shooting was reported by the same farmer on Jan. 25, where a bull was found shot in the head and above the left flank.

Anyone with information should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 821-2100, the Livestock Brand Commission at 225-925-3962 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-558-9741.””
