NWS: No impact for SW La. expected from tropical depression
There will be no impacts for Southwest Louisiana from a tropical depression hovering in the Gulf of Mexico off the west coast of Florida.
The depression is expected to weaken and become post tropical on Saturday, said Joe Rua, lead forecaster for the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.
The depression has not become any better organized overnight, Rua said and it is expected to continue to move south and away from the region.
He said conditions will become unfavorable for the tropical system over the next 36 hours as it moves toward Cuba.
