Sheriff’s Office awarded Louisiana Highway Safety Commission grant

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Office has been award $87,945 in grant funding from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission to conduct additional traffic safety enforcement activities, from now until Sept. 30 to reduce traffic crashes and the resulting serious injuries and fatalities.

The grant will be used to place off-duty deputies on the roads to enforce traffic laws that pertain to seatbelts, drinking and driving, and speeding.  The Sheriff’s Office will utilize checkpoints as wells as saturation patrol to enforce these laws.

During this time the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will also participate in several nationwide enforcement campaigns such as “Click It or Ticket”, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”, and “Buckle Up In Your Truck.”
