Which team had the most impressive win?
WA: Lake Charles College Prep beat previously undefeated Westlake 40-7 to begin defense of its District 4-3A title. Quarterback Josiah Bushnell threw for 243 yards and accounted for four touchdowns.
RA: DeRidder won for the third time in four games with a shutout of Buckeye and has a lot of momentum with district starting this week. Ronnie Crosby cracked 200 rushing yards for a second consecutive week and scored three times.
Name a large schools player of the week.
WA: Jamaric McZeal ran for 226 yards and scored two touchdowns to help Jennings beat St. Louis 62-42. McZeal scored on runs of 16 and 72 yards.
RA: Barbe wide receiver Jamaal Levi went over 200 yards for the second time this season in the Bucs’ win over District 3-5A rival Sam Houston. He had 229 yards and three touchdowns on seven catches. Levi leads all Southwest Louisiana receivers with 1,135 yards.
Name a small schools player of the week.
WA: Taije Ceasar ran for 190 yards and scored on runs of 38, 49 and 51 yards to lead the De-Quincy Tigers to a 40-14 District 5-2A win over Oakdale.
RA: Grant Ducote ran for a season-high 266 yards to lead Rosepine to its first win over Kinder since 2012. Ducote is 5 yards shy of his third consecutive 1,000 yard rushing season and has scored 19 TDs in six games.
