What is the best baseball game on the schedule?
WA: Acadiana at Barbe, today. The Rams beat the Bucs on Tuesday, knocking the Bucs out of sole possession of the District 3-5A lead. Now the Bucs are tied with Sam Houston for first place, with, Lafayette, Sulphur and Acadiana all a game behind.
RA: Kinder at St. Louis, Friday. Both teams have turned things around since struggling early in the season. Kinder has won six of its last eight after starting 5-5. The defending Division II state champion Saints have won 10 of their last 11.
What is the most interesting softball game?
WA: Anacoco at Barbe, Friday. Anacoco is on a six-game winning streak and has beaten large schools Parkway, Leesville, Evangel Christian Christian and Byrd. They get one more big test before the playoffs start by visiting the Class 5A champion.
RA: Barbe at Sam Houston, today. The District 3-5A title will be decided in Moss Bluff. Barbe, the defending 5A champ, has won 14 of its last 15 games, while Sam Houston is on a nine-game win streak and beat the Bucs 12-6 earlier in the season in a nondistrict game.
Name a player to watch.
WA: Iowa outfielder Kamryn Broussard is the school career home run leader with 24, and hit for the cycle in a Tuesday win over Lake Charles College Prep.
RA: Sam Houston’s Dylan Thompson dominated Tuesday in his first start on the mound with 41/3 shutout innings against New Iberia with seven strikeouts and one walk. In his last two games, he is batting .750 with four RBIs and two extra-base hits.
