Symphony fundraiser offers afternoon of drinks, snacks and bingo

The Lake Charles Symphony will host their inaugural Bingo de Mayo fundraiser 3-5 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at the Cash and Carry building.

“We thought we’d spice it up a bit and go along with the Cinco de Mayo theme this year,” Michele Miller, executive director, said.

The Barbe High School Buccaneer String Orchestra will open the afternoon as guests enjoy margaritas, beer, wine and light refreshments from Casa Manana. Five to seven rounds of bingo will be played with guests having the chance to win prizes from local retailers like Hocus Pocus, Hamilton House, Great Harvest Bread Company and Harlequin Steaks and Seafood. Door prizes will be drawn throughout the afternoon, as well.

Bingo de Mayo is one of the main drivers of revenue for the symphony.

“These fundraisers help us continue the symphony and offer classical concerts to our community,” Miller said.

Fundraisers also allow the symphony to invest in local educational outreach to atrisk students.

“These events allow us to offer discounted or free tickets to our schools to help expose them to the arts.”

Tickets are $50 and include one bingo card, one drink ticket and light refreshments. A half-table of five seat can be reserved for $225 and a 10-person table is $450. Guests must be 21 years of age or older. Casual wear is appropriate.

A limited number of tickets will be available at the door and additional cards will be available for purchase on Sunday. To purchase tickets visit, www.lcsymphony.com/bingo or call 433-1611.
