LCPD to host senior fraud awareness seminar

The Lake Charles Police Department will host a Senior Fraud Awareness Seminar at the Lake Charles Senior Center, 1530 5th St., from 9:15 a.m. t0 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31.

The free seminar will feature important information on various fraudulent acts targeting seniors, including check fraud, phone scams, gift card scams and identity theft.

“While no one is immune from being a target of crime, our senior population is often more susceptible to falling victim to scams, schemes and other unscrupulous behaviors,” said LCPD Chief Shawn Caldwell. “We are looking forward to visiting with members of our senior community and providing a little insight on steps they can take to protect themselves from being a victim.”

For more information on this educational seminar, contact the Lake Charles Senior Center by calling 337-433-0805.
