Sheriff’s Office prepared for possible flooding

Due to the open spillway gates at Toledo Bend Reservoir, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is taking necessary precautionary measures in preparation for the possibility of flooding in Calcasieu Parish.

Chief Deputy Stitch Guillory said flooding is evident in the areas of Alligator Park Road, Bass Lake Road, Fountain Cemetery Road, and Jimmy Doyle Road in Starks as well as Wright Road and Steward Road in Vinton.

“At this time the flooding is minimal, but we are urging residents to keep an eye on the situation.  We have high water vehicles and boats staged in the areas and are prepared to handle any flood-related calls we may receive.  We will continue to monitor the flooding situation.”

If anyone finds themselves in an emergency or trapped in their home and needs help evacuating or has any other flood-related issues, call the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 491-3795 or 911 if it is an emergency.
