Unrestrained Eunice Man Dies in Allen Parish Crash

News Release

ALLEN PARISH – A man from Eunice died this morning following a two vehicle crash near Kinder.

On October 3, 2018, shortly before 5:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two vehicle crash on US Hwy 190 east on Kinder in Allen Parish.  The initial investigation revealed a westbound 2005 Saturn Ion driven by 30-year-old James M. Richardson of Eunice crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound 2016 Ford Mustang.

Richardson wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen Parish Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Mustang, 21-year-old Daniel K. Poole of Duson, received minor injuries.

Routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.

Troop D has investigated 21 fatal crashes resulting in 21 deaths in 2018.
