Lake Arthur man sentenced after drugs found in parked truck

JENNINGS – A Lake Arthur man has been sentenced on drug-related charges after being found inside a parked truck with narcotics.

Carl Wayne Sinegal Jr., 51, of Lake Arthur was sentenced after pleading guilty to possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl on June 27 in the 31st Judicial District Court.

Sinegal was sentenced to serve 10 years at hard labor with the Department of Corrections for the possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine conviction and five years at hard labor for the possession with intent to distribute fentanyl conviction, according to information released Tuesday by the Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney’s Office.

The sentences will run concurrently without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.

Sinegal was arrested in January 2023 after police executed a search warrant on a residence in Jennings.

He was found with the narcotics in a truck parked in front of the residence. Police found additional narcotics inside the residence.

The case was investigated by Coy Guidry of the Lake Arthur Police Department.

First Assistant District Attorney Alexander Guinn prosecuted the case.
