Last Downtown at Sundown on Friday
<p class="p1">LEESVILLE — The summer Downtown at Sundown outdoor concert series will come to an end Friday, with one last event at the downtown Polk community stage.</p><p class="p1">Mercury Blue will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. to serenade fans as they peruse the dozens of food trucks filling the lot and offering every type of food imaginable.</p><p class="p1">With picnic tables filling the area, organizers said they hope to have a large crowd enjoy the final show.</p><p class="p1">“We’ve had about 150 people attending each night, and it’s been a great success that we are proud of,” Leesville planning director Grant Bush said.</p><p class="p1">Bush helped to bring the idea of a food truck park to life at the beginning of the summer.</p><p class="p1">He said that the success from the summer series has encouraged organizers to look for ways to bring the events back later in the year.</p><p class="p1">“Right now, we are hoping to bring the event back during the holidays, preferably Christmas,” he said.</p><p class="p1">“We’d like to offer hot cocoa and gingerbread treats and just lots of holiday items.”</p><p class="p1">Admission to event is free.</p><p class="p1">The Polk community stage is across the street from 110 Texas St., near the historic district.</p>
