Jennings woman faces charges after leading police on chase

JENNINGS — A Jennings woman is facing multiple charges after stealing her mother’s car and leading police on a chase before crashing into a utility pole Saturday.

Cathy Brown, who is in her mid-30s, is charged with unauthorized use of a movable, criminal damage to property and flight from an officer.

She is in the hospital with injuries to her ankle and hip, according to Police Chief Danny Semmes.

The incident began Saturday after Brown stole her mother’s car and led police on a short chase before crashing into a utility pole at the corner of Plaquemine and Louise streets. The crash interrupted power to the area, he said.
