LC man arrested in armed robbery of convenience store
A Lake Charles man has been arrested in the armed robbery of a convenience store early Monday morning.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said Fernando L. Nelson, 53, 2608 General Patton St., is accused of entering the store armed with a knife and demanding money from the clerk.
Video surveillance shows Nelson taking an undisclosed amount of cash and fleeing the scene.
He was located during a traffic stop and was in possession of a scarf, seen on video surveillance, and a knife. When detectives spoke with him he confirmed he was responsible for the armed robbery.
He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correcitonal Center and charged with armed robbery. His bond is pending.
