Five Fort Polk soldiers arrested in rape of two women

Five active-duty soldiers assigned to Fort Polk have been arrested and charged with conspiring together to rape two women at a residence in Rosepine, according to Vernon Parish authorities.

Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft said his office was contacted by a Beauregard Parish medical facility to report a sexual assault involving two women. During interviews with the victims, Craft said detectives learned one of the victims was acquainted with one man, who traveled to her Rosepine residence the night of Nov. 24.

The victim said the man brought four other men with him that she nor her roommate knew or were familiar with.

The two women told detectives they consumed alcohol the men had brought with them to the residence, and that soon after they began to “feel unwell.”

“Each victim reported that the effects of the alcohol seemed exaggerated and they suspect that there may have been some type of illicit ingredient mixed in the alcohol,” Craft said.

According to detectives, the women became incapacitated and then all of the male subjects engaged in non-consensual sexual contact with the women.

Craft said forensic testing performed on both women revealed injuries consistent with sexual assault.

Through a joint effort with Fort Polk officials, Vernon authorities identified the five men as John Paul Bianzon, 29; Franzrobert T. Camentil, 20; Cyrus Moises Labial, 24; Ajjashery J. Flores, 24; and Frinzdeivhid Ramit, 19, all of Fort Polk.

All five men were charged on Nov. 30 with two counts each of criminal conspiracy and two counts each of first-degree rape.

As of Thursday, all men remained in the Vernon Parish Jail with no bond set.
