A Jennings man will spend 30 years behind bars after pleading guilty in a 2020 stabbing that left two people dead.

Kendrick Jere Nixon, 37, was sentenced this week to 30 years of hard labor for a manslaughter charge and five years of hard labor on a negligent homicide charge in connection with the stabbing deaths, according to Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney Lauren Heinen.

Both sentences will run concurrently as set by 31st Judicial District Court Judge Steve Gunnell.

In September 2020, police say a man and woman were found critically injured at a residence located at the corner of West Division and Down streets in Jennings.

The male victim, identified as 33-year-old David Authement was pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim, 24-year-old Kristin Thibodeaux, was was taken to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.

At the time, investigators said the stabbings were the result of an argument over money.

Nixon fled the residence following the stabbings, but was later arrested near the crime scene.

Nixon pleaded guilty to the charges last September.
