Coushatta Tribe to hold election Saturday
ELTON — The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana will hold an election Saturday to choose a tribal chairman and fill two seats on the Tribal Council.
Polls will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Voting — open to registered voting members of the tribe — will be in the multipurpose building, 1976 C.C. Bel Road.
Candidates for council chairman include current Chairman Lovelin Poncho, Michelle “Missy” Litteral and David Sickey.
Candidates for the council are Jonathan Cernek, Jill Robinson Gradney, Rebecca Knight (Becky Wilson), Marlene Langley, Beverly Poncho, Jerod Poncho, Douglas Whitworth, Loretta Williams and Kenneth Wayne Wilson II.
The chairman and council members serve four-year terms.
