Louisiana gaming had mixed revenue results in January

Louisiana’s gaming industry posted varied performance in January, according to Donna Jackson of the Louisiana State Police Gaming Audit Section.

The state’s 14 operating riverboat casinos generated $138.6 million in adjusted gross receipts, down $13 million (8.6%) from December but up $17 million (14%) from January 2024, aided by an extra Friday this year.

Fiscal 2024-25 receipts to date total $991.3 million, a 1.7% increase from last year, with $213 million in fees collected.

Caesars New Orleans reported $18.2 million in gross gaming revenue, a sharp $7 million (28%) drop from December and a 2.7% decline from January 2024.
Fiscal year-to-date receipts stand at $145 million, up 4%, with $38.3 million in fees collected, including $5.5 million in January minimum payments.
Slots at the four racetrack facilities earned $23.4 million, down $3 million (11.4%) from December but up 2.8% year-over-year. Fiscal year receipts hit $176 million, a 1% rise, with $26.7 million in fees, including $3.5 million for January.
Video gaming devices at 1,394 locations with 12,005 active units brought in $57.7 million, a $6 million (9.4%) decrease from December yet a 0.5% increase from last January.
Fiscal year net revenue is $427 million, up 0.7%, with $129.5 million in franchise fees, including $17.5 million for January.
Sports betting saw retail sportsbooks handle $27.9 million in wagers, yielding $2.6 million in net proceeds and $174,000 in taxes.
Mobile sportsbooks accepted $355 million, generating $38.3 million in proceeds and $5.7 million in taxes. Daily fantasy sports reported $1 million in gross revenue, with $135,400 in net revenue and $10,800 in taxes.
