Name released of body found in Cameron Parish
The body found Wednesday on Sweetlake Camp Road in Cameron Parish was identified as 32-year-old Mitzie B. Galimidi of Lake Charles, authorities said.
A school bus driver spotted Galimidi’s body in tall grass along the shoulder of the road around 7:15 a.m. Sheriff Ron Johnson said it appeared that her body had only been at that location for less than 24 hours.
“It’s a tragedy,” he said.
The cause of death is undetermined, but “there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body,” Johnson said. Authorities are waiting on toxicology reports and autopsy results from the Calcasieu Coroner’s Office.
Johnson said it is a crime to engage in “illegal dumping of a body,” and that investigators are looking into what might have transpired in Galimidi’s death and how she ended up at that location.
Galimidi’s death does not appear to have any connection to an incident in March, when a woman’s head was found south of Hackberry. A reconstruction of a woman’s face was done in that case, but her identity remains unknown.
Anyone with information on Galimidi’s death should call the Cameron Sheriff’s Office, at 775-5111.
