Calcasieu agencies plan Police Week events

Law enforcement agencies in Calcasieu Parish will mark Police Week — which honors officers who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty — with several events May 15-20.

Lake Charles police will hold a Badge of Honor program at 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 15, in the Lake Charles Civic Center exhibition hall.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and state police will hold a joint memorial service and roll call at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, in the Civic Center exhibition hall.

The Sheriff’s Office will hold its annual law enforcement torch run at 7 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, beginning at the Civic Center and ending at Sheriff’s Office headquarters, 5400 East Broad St.

Sulphur police will hold a joint memorial program with Westlake, Vinton and DeQuincy officers at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Square Pavilion, 1015 South Ruth St., Sulphur.

Iowa police will hold a candlelight vigil at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at their headquarters, 115 North Thomson Ave.
