LCPD make arrest on 3rd degree rape

News Release

On Saturday September 29<sup>th</sup>, 2018 at approximately 2:30am, the Lake Charles Police Department responded to the complaint of a rape at a local motel. 

Upon arriving, officers located the victim, who was then transported to a local hospital. During the course of the initial officer’s investigation, it was determined that the suspect in question, had been captured on the hotels video surveillance system. 

Upon reviewing the video, witnesses identified the suspect as one of the guests staying at the motel.

Investigating officers made contact with the individual, motel employees identified this individual as the suspect in the surveillance video, he was placed under arrest at the scene by officers. 

During the course of the investigation, Corporal David Bray discovered that the initial identification of the arrested person was not accurate.  He immediately brought this information to the attention of the investigating Detectives. 

Upon confirmation that he was not the person responsible for this crime, the initial suspect was immediately released from police custody, prior to being booked in on this charge.

Corporal Bray gathered additional information on this case, while doing so he was able to develop a different suspect. He determined that the suspect worked in the Lake Charles area.

Through further investigation the suspect was identified as Osman Alvarado-Martinez.  

Martinez was located a short time later and it was determined through additional evidence and interviews, that Martinez was in fact, the suspect responsible for this crime. 

Martinez was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Corrections facility on the charge of 3<sup>rd</sup> degree Rape.  His bond has been set at $250,000 by Judge Davis. 

Martinez is also being held on a Federal Immigration Detainer as an illegal immigrant from Honduras. ””Arrested Martinez
