If you are eligible to vote in the Saturday, April 28, election you should take advantage of voting early.

On this month’s ballot for Calcasieu is a property tax renewal to benefit the Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital service district, the District 5 Sulphur City Council seat and the renewal of a property tax to benefit the District 1 community center and playground area of Ward 6.

In Allen, voters will be asked to consider the renewal of a property tax for School Board District 3, a proposition to sell the Oberlin natural gas distribution utility system and grant a franchise to CenterPoint Energy Resources, and a bond issue to Recreation District 6 in Reeves.

In Beauregard, voters will be asked to consider the renewal of a 1 percent sales tax and decide a run-off for a DeRidder council seat.

In Cameron, voters will be asked to also renew the Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital property tax proposition, two property tax continuations for the law enforcement district, renewal of property taxes for gravity draining districts 3, 4 and 9, renewal of a property tax for recreation district 7, and renewal of a property tax for maintenance in waterworks district 2.

On the Vernon ballot is a runoff for Anacoco police chief and for a DeRidder council seat.

In Jeff Davis, voters will be asked to renewal a operation and maintenance tax for the police jury.

Early voting continues through this week, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. daily at parish voter registrar offices. Voters should take with them a driver’s license, Louisiana special ID, or some other generally recognized picture ID.

Early voting is a good way to conveniently cast your ballot and to make sure your voice is heard.
