LC boater rescued

A Lake Charles boater was rescued this week after he went missing in the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge in Cameron Parish, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries officials said Tuesday.

The 38-year-old man had been reported missing Sunday, Nov. 18. After searching the area, wildlife enforcement agents found him around 9 a.m. Monday, roughly a mile from where he launched his kayak.

The man told agents he went duck hunting, got lost and couldn’t find his way back to the launch. He did not have service on his cell phone.

The man was taken by ambulance to Cal Cam Hospital in Sulphur and was treated for mild hypothermia.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Coast Guard and Cameron Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the search.””Sabine National Wildlife RefugeJunglecat/commons.wikimedia.org
