UPDATE: Two men — both of whom fathered children with one of the victims — arrested in double homicide

Two men — both of whom fathered children with one of the victims — have been arrested in the double homicide reported last week at a Bradley Street apartment complex.

Lake Charles Deputy Chief Kevin Kirkum said Sheltren Terel Tucker, 38, was arrested at 6 a.m. Thursday in Port Arthur, Texas, and Desmond Duriel Brown, 39, was arrested 15 minutes later in Welsh.

Kirkum said Tucker and Brown killed Courtney Grogan, 38 and Cyrille Mitchell Jr., 40, in the early morning hours of Aug. 19. Their bodies were recovered in Apartment B at 709 Bradley St.

Police believe Grogan and Mitchell were killed while three children — including the two fathered by Tucker and Brown — were inside the apartment.

Tucker was arrested with the help of the U.S. Marshal’s Office. He is charged with first-degree murder and home invasion. His bond has been set at $2.1 million.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted Lake Charles police in arresting Brown. He is charged with principal to first-degree murder. His bond has been set at $1.5 million.

Kirkum said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information in the case is asked to call detectives Sgt. Benjamin Randolph, Sgt. George Miller or Sgt. Dustin Fontenot at 337- 491-1311.
